The National Tourism Fund (Fonatur) has contributed to the consolidation of the Riviera Nayarit brand, the youngest in the Mexican industry, its support of the integrally planned developments is an important asset in the promotion of the destination. The Riviera Nayarit Visitors and Convention Bureau is happy to congratulate the agency on 35 years of continuing success.

In the presence of Governor Ney Gonzalez, Fonatur General Director Miguel Gomez Mont, along with one of the founders of Fonatur, Pedro Donde Escalante and the mayor of Bahia de Banderas, Hector Miguel Paniagua, the historical document written by journalist Maria Elena Vega was presented to the Riviera Nayarit community.
It took over one year and more than 120 interviews, some of them with founders like Ernesto Fernandez Hurtado and Pedro Dondé, who along with Antonio Enriquez Savignac, were the visionaries who from the Bank of Mexico shaped what today is deemed as the best creation for the development of tourism.
At the presentation event, an agreement was entered into by Fonatur, the municipality of Compostela, represented by Mayor Hector Lopez Santiago, and the Vidanta group that donated a plot of land to build a road to the new Fonatur Integrally Planned Center (IPC) that will be located in El Capomo.
“The government of Nayarit, ratifies its friendship and commitment to see the Riviera Nayarit IPC through, which will be located near Guayabitos, by Peñita de Jaltemba, down by Las Varas and Zacualpan, where we want to build the airport”, said after the signing ceremony Governor Ney Gonzalez. Murphy, in turn, said that the supply of services that will be brought about by the developments Fonatur plans for the destination will be as emblematic as the Litibu golf course, which opened early March and consolidates the destination as one of the top choices for the world golf segment.
“This will also create new jobs and a better quality of life for those of us who live here, as the state government intends by making tourism a priority in the framework of the State Development Plan. Suffice it to see Fonatur’s 35 year history, all the success cases, the 721 million dollar investment made in Litibu, which will allow the project to generate annual revenues for 185 million dollars when mature” he said in closing.
