Before a sold out audience in the Miguel Prieto Ibarria Charro Arena, Mayor Salvador Gonzalez presided the National Charro Championship Closing Ceremony.
The undisputable champion was the Cuauhtemoc Charro Team from Nuevo Leon, which defeated the Puente de Camotlan and Saint Martin Teams in an intense double header on Friday, after competitions were postponed due to rain Wednesday and Thursday.
coleadaAddressing the audience,  Chava, as his charro friends call the mayor, told them they can count on the support from the City Hall to maintain our sport as one of Puerto Vallarta’s  attractions, especially this year, when the Bicentennial of the Independence and the Centennial of the Revolution are being celebrated.
The four top teams received cash prizes, which went to Cuauhtemoc, San Martin Caballero, Puente de Camotlan and Tracomsa, respectively. Fifth and sixth places received each a four-horse trailer, which went to Charros Rancho el Eden and Hacienda Vieja.
At the award ceremony were in attendance Council members Dulce Maria Flores,  Julio Santana; Municipal Attorney Fernando Castro, and Deputy Juan Jose Cuevas. They were joined by the organizing committee, made up of the Ibarra and Diaz families.
