The restaurant now has a new menu, after the recent Gourmet Festival, in which it participated. The quality of the meals it serves is higher and higher.

When you dine at The River Café you can’t help falling for the beauty that surrounds you.
Its river bank location right in the center of town adds to the uniqueness of this top restaurant in Puerto Vallarta.
In the cool winter nights, its terraces by the gardens provide an ideal setting for a romantic dinner, or a special celebration, such as an anniversary.
Last week we dined there and enjoyed the season debut of Willie Royale and the Locos. Willie is a very well known entertainer in Puerto Vallarta. His passionate violin has made the delights of the audiences at The River Café over the years, where he performs for a brief season by year’s end, formerly as part of the Willie and Lobo duo, and now with the Locos. Willie Royale and The Locos are performing Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for two more weeks, until January 6. His latest CD is available during performing nights.
The River Café and live performance by Willie and The Locos is a hard-to-beat pair.

I had the wild mushroom soup, with gorgonzola croutons and basil oil. It was excellent! Great consistency and flavor, accented by drops of basil oil. Letty had River Greens, with grilled eggplant, tomato, goat cheese and basil vinaigrette. She loved it.
For me, a Rib Eye Steak with three-peppercorn sauce made up for a perfect main course. Juicy, tender and delicious steak on a mirror of peppercorn sauce, with potatoes and asparagus; it was superb! Paired to a Malbec wine it had no match.
Letty had the Mahi Mahi -encrusted and pan seared with cilantro, pecans and sautéed vegetables and pumpkin seeds, over coconut sauce. She went mmmh…! She was so excited about how delicious it was that she made me try it; and was she right!
To close our dining experience on a high note, I had a wonderful dessert; apple compote with granola, walnut and vanilla ice cream; with a rich coffee cup. Letty had a cappuccino.
On New Year’s Eve, the River Café is hosting wonderful party to the beat of live music by a Cuban band. Dance your way into 2010 and enjoy a wonderful special menu, and a glass of champagne to toast to happiness and prosperity in 2010.
