Last week we dined at Ristorante Prego and again rejoiced in the delightful Italian cuisine in a place that has restarted a gastronomic tradition in Puerto Vallarta.
June evenings create a very special sensation in the atmosphere. The golden shades of the last rays of sunlight vividly contrast against the dark, overcast sky. Sitting comfortably at the terrace, listening to live music by Colombian singer Alvaro Gaviria, we sipped our aperitifs while reading the menu, which has been enhanced since our last visit, and now includes more choices of appetizers, soups and pizza.
medallionsSalads look very enticing, and I was tempted to have the Caprese, which is emblematic of the delicious simplicity of the Italian cuisine. However, I changed my mind when I decided to have the Chicken Parmesana, which includes a small Caesar salad.
Stephanie, who joined me for the first time for a restaurant review, was drawn to Pane Prego, an appetizer of gratin bread with fine herbs. In turn, I chose the cream of the day, which is actually your choice of cream, and is prepared at your request with the ingredient of you choosing. I had mushroom cream and was delighted by my choice. It was delicious, creamy as it should be, and topped with bread croutons.

At main courses Stephanie had Beef medallions with sherry sauce, which is served with a side dish of pasta and vegetables. She loved the sweet notes of the sherry sauce, and the way it complemented the medallions which practically melted in her mouth.
Mi Chicken Parmesana was great. It was exciting to discover new flavors in the tomato sauce, and the combination of pasta and Caesar salad.
chicken ParmesanaOf course, a cup of coffee was not to be missed at desserts. Stephanie ordered a Cappuccino with Kalhua to accompany her dessert, a vanilla ice cream. I had regular black coffee with my Tiramisu. It was a wonderful way to bring our stupendous dining experience to an end.
Because of its great cuisine, Prego was chosen by PV Animal, a charitable organization, to hold a fundraiser breakfast party last Friday, aiming at funding the association’s various programs.
Prego is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Villas Vallarta Shopping Center, Local C-46, Las Glorias Hotel Zone. Tel. 293-5444
