A cash prize of 60 thousand pesos will be awarded to the best book; all writers under 30 living in Mexico can enter

The Cultural Institute of Aguascalientes through the Center for Research and Literary Studies of Aguascalientes (CIELA Fraguas) announces the Salvador Gallardo Avalos National Young Literature Award, which in its 2009 edition will recognize exclusively the narrative genre.
cartelAll writers under 30 living in the Mexican Republic can enter the contest. Participants must submit an unpublished book in Spanish, with a minimum of 60 pages, typed or computer printout, at font size 10 to 12 points, double line spacing printed on letter-size paper on one side. Three copies should be submitted.
Works should be presented under a pseudonym and without any reference or dedication that may identify the author. Likewise, in a closed envelop, marked with the title of the work and the pseudonym under which it is entering the contest, identification data of the author (name, telephone numbers, address, city, e-mail address and proof of age) should be included.
The contest closes on July 30, 2009. In the event of works being received after said date, the postmark’s date will be used as entry date.
The organizing committee will cover transportation and lodging expenses (within the national territory) of the winner derived from his or her attendance to the award ceremony, which will be held within the framework of the Aguascalientes Book Fair in the month of September.
There will be only one 60,000 pesos prize, recognition plaque and publication of the work. Publishing rights for the first edition are the property of the Cultural Institute of Aguascalientes, under the editorial criteria established by the institute itself.
The National Council for Culture and the Arts extends an invitation to all writers interested in participating. The complete basis of the contest can be consulted at http://cielafraguas.blogspot.com or www.aguascalientes.gob.mx.
