The 6th International Festival of Altruism was held last May at the CasaMagna Marriott Hotel. On Tuesday, July 20, the results attained by the 2010 edition of the festival were announced by the organizers, and the proceeds were equally distributed among 24 participating charitable organizations.
Kelly TrainorPresiding over the check presentation ceremony was US Consular Agent Kelly Trainor, the creator and driving force behind the festival. She was accompanied by CasaMagna Marriott Marketing Director Lita Aguirre and Public Relations Manager Lourdes Bizarro, the resort being the host and main sponsor from the inceptive stages of the festival.
This edition of the Festival of Altruism had an incredible response on the part of the community and 48 local restaurants and companies, whose support has made the festival possible.
los certificadosThe spirit of the festival is to bring charitable organizations and the community closer together. It creates a showcase for noble causes to present their mission and vision to the members of the community and an opportunity for individuals to learn about and to get involved in the charity of their choice. The vehicle for this coming closer together is an evening of fine gastronomy and entertainment at the gardens of CasaMagna Marriott.
This year a total 1600 tickets were sold; additional proceeds came from raffle tickets and donations, to make a total of 578,400 pesos. Each of the 24 charities was presented with a 24,100-peso check at the event.
Kelly Trainor addressed the audience to recognize the important involvement of the Marriott Hotel and to honor Sandra Phillips, who has been her right hand in organizing the festival but was away this year for personal reasons, which is why she was assisted by Michelle Rojas. She also recognized Bancomer for its participation, which included a generous donation and sponsoring a beachfront lounge area with live music during the festival, where many enjoyed a wonderful sunset and a fireworks display. She also commended the International Friendship Club’s support as to the fiscal aspects of the festival.
A slide presentation with images from the festival was shown as every sponsor and participating charity was named.
After the check presentation ceremony, all were invited to pose for a group photo.
