3rd Riviera Nayarit Marlin and Tuna Fishing Tournament Closes with a Bang

primer lugarOver one million pesos in prizes were shared among the winners of the 3rd. International Riviera Nayarit Marlin and Tuna Fishing Tournament. The prizes were presented during the gala dinner and prize ceremony that took place at the convention rooms of the Marival Resort and Suites in Nuevo Vallarta.
The final stage of the tournament was loaded with emotions and in the last 40 minutes there were a handful of surprises.
In the marlin category, after which the tournament is named, team Animal House, headed by Robert Geib, regained the first place of the ranking by presenting, almost in the last otrosminute, a beautiful specimen weighing 182.7 kilograms, captured by Luis Fernando Ramos. That was enough to displace Carlos Menchaca from the first position; he had gotten team Milongo ahead on the competition’s first day when he captured a 158.1 marlin. Animal House’s Robert Geib fell to the third position with a 118.2 kilo mark.
Jose Luis Perez Preciado of the International Waters team captured a 108.8 kilo tuna and held on
Jesús Hernandez gave team Boston Whaler first place in the Dorado division with a 15 kilo Mahi Mahi, and pushed Jose Fernando García from the Triple Thread team down to the second spot with 11.3 kilos. Third place was for Alejandro Herrera from El Medico team.
las nenasAs to the Sailfish category in the catch-and-release mode, the winners were La Sirena team with six releases, the second place went to Boston Whaler Fishing Team with four releases and Yamaha-Imemsa finished third with three captured and released sailfish.
On the evening of Saturday, August 15, prizes were handed out by the Fishing Club board members Fernando Flores, Alberto Sánchez, Antonio Camacho and Raúl Serna.
The ceremony began with recognitions and thank you to sponsors and authorities who made the tournament a complete success.

Now the Fishing Club will turn the page to focus on the upcoming tournament that will keep them busy for the next three months, the Puerto Vallarta International Sailfish Tournament set to take place in November.
Fishing Club Chairman Fernando Solórzano was charged with delivering the closing speech, and he thanked anglers, sponsors, government officials and everyone who made it possible to have the tournament go on without glitch.
