Collective Art Exhibition Inaugurated at the Presidente Intercontinental Hotel
At the lobby of the Presidente Intercontinental Hotel, last Thursday, July 9, a collective art exhibition was inaugurated. The show included art works by Mexican artists Valentina Olmedo, Adolfo Campos, Roberto Aceves, Javier Miramón and Omar Mañueco.
The exhibition was mounted by Magnolia Gallery.
Valentina Olmedo presents in this show, paintings from her series entitled Urban Topography, which she says “I developed with the intention to entice spectators to a sensitive opening towards the urban environment, to recover the attention on the sensorial material that surround us without us noticing; to recover the invisible sense of objects, buildings, and places in the city, besides perceiving the link between city, culture, natural elements and an open region of senses that can always be re-imagined".
Adolfo Campos was born in Puebla in 1983 and for the last two years he has lived in Guadalajara. Diana Martin says Adolfo Campos’ work takes form and substance at night. Lonely births are witnessed by the flickering moonlight. Much of this melancholic nocturnal quality emerges from his works, maybe because it is the night the symbol of the underground states of the soul, of the occult.
Roberto Aceves was born in Guadalajara, 1978. After a process where he has always expressed his innermost feelings about life in figures, nudes and faces, he now communicates his vision with a realistic, sometimes figurative language. In 2007 his work was selected to the National Jose Atanasio Monroy Art Award.
Javier Miramon has participated in more than 20 collective and three solo exhibitions in Mexico and Germany. His themes swing from oneiric reality to geometric abstraction fusing elements from universal nature, the human condition of man and his ancestors.
Omar Mañueco has been scholarship recipient from IMJUVE and has shown in Finland, Japan and the Yucatan Biennial, in whose second edition he received honorable mention in print.
The exhibition is up for viewing until September 9 at the lobby of the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental, Carretera a Barra de Navidad Km 8.5 Tel. 228 0191
