Puerto Vallarta Progresses toward another Certification

The results of the audit on integral water management were presented

Puerto Vallarta is on its way to getting a new certification as a green Municipality, after the results of the environmental audit carried out last week on integral water management, by the auditing group represented by the company EMC2, in coordination with the Federal Agency for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA).

the meetingThe results of the audit were presented on Friday, October 9 at a meeting presided over by Mayor Javier Bravo Carbajal. The auditing group presented preliminary results of the environmental audit on the water management company (Seapal) and the municipality, as to integral water management, one of the basic requirements of the certification.

The mayor expressed his satisfaction on the progress made in this regard, since the process was set in motion, and recognized Seapal Vallarta on its willingness to join in this effort.

Items included in the audit were water, air and noise, soil and subsoil, dangerous residues, environmental hazards and emergency response, natural resources and environmental management system.

Seminaris Casas Velazquez, from EMC2 explained that the municipality was audited as to the relation with Seapal as to water management, and a number of strengths were found, as well as commitment to the care and preservation of the environment, and the joint efforts made by the personnel to attain the certifications on which they are working.

the signing As to facilities, Casas Velazquez said the existence of four water treatment plants was ignored, one of them in Boca de Tomatlán, and three others in the Las Palmas district, which are fully operational and pending administrative procedures to be transferred to the SEAPAL. The mayor said procedures are already in progress.

There was a special recognition from the auditing group and the mayor himself made to Maria Concepción Serna Parra, who has given completely of herself to fulfilling every requirement on the part of the municipality.

EMC2 Auditor Jose Eduardo Medina Ramírez said he is pleased by these efforts, because Puerto Vallarta is a leader municipality in many regards. “Leadership as to authority, organization, personal leadership within the organizations, leadership of women”. This has been an undertaking that has taught us that when there is a will to do something it is achieved swiftly in the right way. We are pleased to be working with committed professionals, this is the strongest impression we are taking with us”.
