Man, a Perishable Product, Art Exhibition at Naval Museum

The works of Felipe Gonzalez Aguilera “Ferguz” are shown at the Naval Museum’s temporary exhibits hall

openingT he Municipal Government’s Department of Art and Culture presents the art exhibition titled “Man, a Perishable Product” with the works of Guanajuato painter Felipe Gonzalez Aguilera, also known as Ferguz. In this exhibition he explores the idea of man’s temporality.

The artist questions the way today’s media, marketing and other everyday aspects modify personal relations, consumption behaviors and largely the perception of life itself, making human relations into something ephemeral and superficial, like in “use and discard” models learned from material consumerism.

the exhibitionFelipe Gonzalez is a graduate from the Graphic Design School at the University of Guanajuato; his résumé includes various exhibitions in different cities across the country. He is the recipient of several scholarships from some of the most important art institutions in México. Ferguz, as he calls himself, also devotes time to teaching young artists in the House of Culture in Moroleón, Guanajuato.

Even though only one of these paintings is a self-portrait, I project myself as man in this temporary, ever-changing reality, in an evocation of Eros to reveal the intimate, each person’s own story, how life and death in a symbiosis share a space in a single body” the painter said.

The opening took place Friday, October 9, at 7:30 in the temporary exhibitions hall of the Naval Museum, by Los Arcos Amphitheater. The exhibition is up for viewing until October 30. Admission is free to all.
