Riviera Nayarit is consolidating as a world class destination, as hotels and services gain recognition on their quality and competitiveness.
The Grand Velas All Suites Resort & Spa was rewarded with the AAA’s Five Diamond award for the fourth consecutive year, the highest distinction granted by the American Automobile Association.
Tony Perrone, Director of the Mexico and Caribbean AAA office, highlighted the importance of Riviera Nayarit as a tourist destination, by positioning itself on the second spot nationwide with the largest number of Five Diamond recognitions.
“Less than one percent of the hotels rated by AAA make the five diamond category; ten percent of those hotels are in Mexico and the Riviera Nayarit already has three of the eleven to be awarded this year, along with a number of hotels with Four Diamond certifications” Perrone said.
He went on to say that “Grand Velas in the Riviera Nayarit is a world leader, since it is the only hotel within the all inclusive category that is completely family-oriented.
On behalf of Grand Velas Hotel, the award was accepted by General Director Rolando Miravete, who said that to owners Juan and Eduardo Vela Ruiz it is a great pride to ratify the hotel’s quality standards, which was made possible by the commitment of the work team.
Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Marc Murphy expressed his satisfaction on the destinations achievements. He assured that awards like the Five Diamond position the destination as one of the musts for 2010, as it has been stated by several specialized publications.
Nayarit Tourism Secretary Edwin Hernandez commented on the importance of the tourism sector over the most recent years, and the constant pursue of higher quality and competitiveness standards, which are the signature of the state administration.
The official delivered congratulations from the State Government, in particular from Governor Ney Gonzalez to the Vela Ruiz family and the work team of the Grand Velas Hotel on obtaining the Five Diamond Award four years in a row.
A very interesting event took place last Saturday, January 9, at Los Altos Villas, a combination of open house and art show.
The event provided the Puerto Vallarta audience with the
opportunity to get acquainted with a gorgeous new condominium complex while admiring the art of celebrated local artists like Manuel Lepe, Marta Gilbert, La Malagua Collective, Cherie Sibley, Michael Constantini, and other represented by local galleries such as Omar Alonso and Corsica.
The event was a big hit, there’s no doubt that Los Altos complex enjoys a privileged location with astonishing views of the bay and the downtown area. The event was organized by Tropicasa, and in view of its great success, there will probably be others coming up.
The condominium apartments’ walls were embellished by art works of the aforementioned artists. It was interesting to view art pieces in an unusual setting, but at the same time, that’s where they are most likely to end up, on the walls of a fortunate art collector’s home.
