Opening Night at the New Teatro Vallarta
Artist Martha Chapa Rewarded on Lifetime Achievement
The mayor presided over homage to the important artist, who is better know for her still life paintings on the subject of apples
On March 6, after two years of reconstruction, the new Teatro Vallarta, the home of Fandango show opened.
The opening show was an event that drew a huge audience that filled every seat and left many standing in the hallways. Personalities 
from the different spheres concurred there. As guests of honor were State Tourism Secretary Aurelio Lopez Rocha, Culture Secretary Alejandro Cravioto, Federal Deputy Rafael Yerena Zambrano, as well as Mayor Salvador Gonzalez Resendiz and members of the city council.
The event began with a salutation to the flag, carried out by the marching band and flag escort from the 8th Naval Zone.
There were speeches made by theater executives, headed by General Producer and Director Manuel Díaz Preciado, as well as state and municipal officials gathered there, after which there was a ribbon cutting ceremony to formally mark the theater’s opening.
“It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to be part of this project that even in difficult times as these are, has invested 130 million pesos to rescue this stage. It is more than anything else an 
important investment of cultural theme; as authorities, the least we can do is to give them all the support, you can count on me from now on” Mayor Gonzalez Resendiz said.
Ubaldo Lozano, from the company owning the theater, said that after two years of hard work this dream is now a reality. He thanked Mayor Gonzalez for joining in this cultural project and highlighted that the complex will include an art gallery, a space for artistic expression.
Then the show began; a selection of the dance numbers that make up the Fandango Show, which will be on Tuesday to Saturday.
With advanced multimedia resources, the show was presented to the Puerto Vallarta audience for about 45 minutes.
After the show, a cocktail reception was offered in the Plaza del Espectáculo outside the theater.
