Wine Fest Announces Fourth Edition
Riviera Nayarit to Host 70 Tour Operators
Destination to be the venue for the 2010 Gala Vallarta, held in coordination with Puerto Vallarta.

At a press conference held at the Friendly Hola hotel last Tuesday, February 9, the announcement was made of the fourth edition of the Wine Fest, which will take place in this city on February 22 to 28.
The announcement was made by Nacho Cadena, hotelier and constant promoter of culture. He is a member of the Wine Fest’s organizing committee, along with Luis Angarita, Luis Reyes Brambila, Agustin Rodriguez, Alejandro W. Rodriguez and Monica Díaz.
Nacho highlighted the four core principles of the festival, which are positioning Puerto Vallarta as a gastronomic destination, promoting wine culture, getting Puerto Vallarta residents involved in cultural activities and to train those who work in the hospitality industry in all the aspects related to wine.
It is out of these principles that the different activities included in the festival’s program derive, including a poetry contest as well as a film festival on wine related subjects, and a number of shows and cultural events.
This edition of the Wine Festival encompasses the participation of 10 independent restaurants and 10 hotel restaurants from Puerto Vallarta and the neighboring municipality of Bahia de Banderas.
Each of the participants will play host to a sommelier, who will give service to costumers and will also train the restaurant staff and invited guests as to the characteristics of wine and its pairing to food. During the festival, each restaurant will offer along with its regular menu, a special festival menu with wine pairing.
The wine festival is made possible, Nacho Cadena said, thanks to the participation of the Mexican Association of Oenologists, the Mexican Organization of Oenophiles, The Tourism Board of Bahia de Banderas, the Tourism Board of Puerto Vallarta, the Culture Secretariat of Jalisco, the Tourism Secretariat of Jalisco and the City of Puerto Vallarta.
IN Attendance at the press conference were Puerto Vallarta Art and Culture Under director Monica Venegas, Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board President Gabriel Igartúa, Hotel and Motel Association Director Alejandro Torres, and personalities from the restaurant industry of Puerto Vallarta and Bahia de Banderas.
