At a press conference held at Icon Vallarta last Monday, Feb. 8, Zootropo, Puerto Vallarta International Film Festival was announced. The event intends to bring together filmmakers and film experts to share their art and knowledge and to bring into the limelight the need to find new forms of life for human beings, and to stop the planet’s devastation process; and to raise awareness toward the changes being produced in the universe. The festival bets on such proposals as a way to broaden thought, dreams and truth, to transform risk into confidence.
los chequesThese notions were explained by Daniel Herrera, president of Zootropo Foundation, upon making the festival’s presentation, whose official section will take place on April 5 to 11.
Presideing over the press conference  was Puerto Vallarta Mayor Salvador Gonzalez Reséndiz, Art and Culture Under director Monica Venegas, filmmaker Santiago Pando, musician Igor Villanueva and Icon Representative Marco Mendoza.
Mayor Gonzalez affirmed the city’s commitment to supporting education and promotion of the cinematographic arts, and commented that there are currently projects underway to make movies and series in Puerto Vallarta in upcoming dates.
The festival’s core event is the contest “Stories in 24 Frames” with a 30 thousand peso cash prize top the winning screenplay. It is important to note that entries to the contest must involve Puerto Vallarta and the Banderas Bay.
