During the days from December 2 to 6, Puerto Vallarta lived the excitement of the Film Festival’s 6th Edition.
Featuring 23 films, many of them nominated or awarded by the Academy, the festival was also a meeting place for filmmakers, actors, and the media.
The festival presented premieres every day at the Cinemark complex, followed by a cocktail party in one of the new beach condominium complexes just being finished, and an after party at the new Barra bar.
On Thursday, after the screening of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, a cocktail party was offered at the Peninsula Resort and Residences. The film, featuring Lily Cole in the role of Valentina, the daughter of a traveling magician, was Heath Ledger’s last. It was well received by the audience, and rewarded with an ovation at the end.
The party that followed at Peninsula featured a delicious buffet dinner served by some of the top restaurants in town, like The River Café, Thierry’s Prime Steakhouse, Kaiser Maximilian, Vitea and Portobello, and cocktails by Mundo Cuervo.
In attendance at the cocktail party were Festival Director Robert Roessel, and staff member Christian Gomez. Also were actors Erick Hayser and Guillermo Ivan, who also directs Sin Retorno, a Mexican film screened that evening by the festival. Also in attendance was actor Hector Jimenez, who stars in director Jared Hess’ film Gentlemen Broncos, also a festival selection.
