Galeria Corsica currently presents paintings by Ricardo Fenandez; thus continuing to bring the art works of the most outstanding contemporary Mexican artists to the Puerto Vallarta art lovers. This time, the ample exhibition spaces of the gallery are embellished with the intriguing art of this great artist.
Ricardo Fernandez’s paintings bring into the light the renovated color of the subjects that the artist chooses as sources of images and artistic dialogue: the intimacy of the feminine expression and the imaginary oniric spaces. The author records the experience of the great duality man/woman and takes it to the canvas. Each painting makes reference to the tangible elements of contact between partners: the erotic, the intimacy, the domesticity. Additionally, he leads the viewer, by means of his masterful brushstrokes, into a graphic world in which figures are useful not only to board the artist’s psyche, but also to create ample figurative spaces in which color is reflected.
Ricardo Fernandez’s palette of choice emphasizes the use of white and red: either shaded or saturated, and studied to cause the highest impact possible. The artist prioritizes feminine presence in his work. His compositions are spaces where woman is a central character suggesting uncertain messages. She is the result of the finesse and lyricism of forms taken from the natural, in this case, the delicacy of features and the loose brushstroke that create the character. Exquisite women lead us to a timeless refinement that celebrates woman, showing affinity with the old Flemish masters and their pre Raphaelite admirers. Expression is a cross between intimacy and ecstasy; as if the painter wanted to send us into paroxysm, the intimate world of the couple, their passions and wounds. The domestic sphere is to Fernandez, a pretext to freeze a moment, a luminous spot, a space. In his observation of the domestic dependencies, the artist reflects on the chromatic possibilities of the place. Space celebrates color, light and the uncertain moment. Thus, in this everyday realm there is no definite time, only a celebration of form, shadows, color shades and the observation of the natural. The art works of Ricardo Fernandez are up for viewing at Galeria Corsica, during regular gallery hours and at the Art Walk, every Wednesday from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Galeria Corsica is located on 230 Leona Vicario, Downtown, Tel. 222 1821. www.galeriacorsica.com
