Jalisco Promotes Itself in Panama City

The Jalisco Week kicked off in Panama City with a gastronomic festival and folkloric ballet shows, as part of an international promotional campaign that seeks incentivizing tourism and investments in the Mexican state.

charraPromotional activities of the state, known as the birthplace of Mariachi and tequila, aims at “bringing more of Mexico to Panama, and, at the same time, promoting Panama in Mexico” Mexican ambassador in Panama City Yanerit Morgan told reporters.

Thanks to this undertaking, throughout the week Panamanians will be given the opportunity to get acquainted with the tourist and commercial possibilities of Jalisco, in conferences organized by the Mexican embassy and the state government.

Jalisco International Affairs Director Monica Sanchez, told media that the tour seeks to take advantage of the tourist potential represented by having a direct flight between the Panamanian capital city and Guadalajara.

gastronomyThe week of Jalisco in Panama encompasses a gastronomic festival with the chefs-owners of the prestigious Guadalajara restaurant El Sacromonte, Gerardo and Leonardo Delgadillo, complete with tequila and margaritas, with live entertainment by Singer Pablo Serratos.

On the other hand, in the University Dome on the capital, the folkloric ballet of the Jalisco State Culture Secretariat will be appearing, while the Jaliscan Handicrafts Institute will share its export experience with local artisans and officials.

The organizers have also organized a tequila tasting, aimed at liquor importers in order to promote a greater presence of the national Mexican mescal, Morgan said.

Ms. Sanchez also said that there will be a seminar for tourist operators to promote the various destinations in the state, such as Puerto Vallarta and Tequila. She said that the aims of the week are to motivate local businessmen to invest in Jalisco in the sectors of agro-industry, Tequila and electronics. Jalisco government officials and entrepreneurs see Panama as a “distribution center for Jalisco products in Central and South America”, Ms. Sanchez said
