Passion for Living, Art Exhibition at De Santos

At De Santos Restaurant there was an art exhibition opening last Friday, September 4.

“Passion for living” is an art exhibition of the works by Leno Morfin, a Jalisco born artist who recently moved back to his home state after working in Chicago for over 15 years.

The exhibition has been referred to as “a simply passionate collection of art works, full of vibrating colors and visions of the future, a tender world of fantasy that reminds us we are alive; to be surprised and excited about the multiple ways the artist masterfully plays with the abstract.”

Leno describes himself as a man with an insatiable craving for creation. He was born July 10, 1954, in a little village of the Sierra Madre in Mexico. As a child, Leno had a passion for creation.

His curiosity led him to explore his artistic nature in different kinds of traits like shoe making and fine carpentry, painting and sculpture. In 1970 at the age of sixteen, his family migrated to the United States.

For the next twenty years he took on many artistic challenges which always led him to painting. To this he quotes himself, “Life is like a toy store filled with many exciting toys, which makes it difficult to decide which one to choose. We almost forget, though, that within oneself we have the best toy we will ever own.”

His visions led him to create a simple yet passionate work with the use of ardent colors in oil and acrylic. In 1994, Mr. Louis Durot discovered Leno’s art work in Chicago. Since then, Leno has been exhibiting his art throughout the US and other countries as far as China.

On the occasion of the exhibition opening, the restaurant offered its patrons a special “Passion for Living” menu, consisting of Black Olive Pâté with spices, Vegetable salad with prickly pear dressing and Baked Salmon with dry chiles, cherry wine sauce.

The art exhibition will be on for two weeks at De Santos Restaurant, on the corner of Morelos and Leona Vicario, Downtown.
