Tutta la Passione at Espresso
Italian cuisine, just like its Mexican counterpart, originates in the family home. Its flavors are simple yet delicious and the culinary art revolves around the forno.

Espresso ristorante is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. Last week we had lunch there (a big lunch) and tried some of their most emblematic dishes.
For ten years, Espresso has been a favorite of Vallartenses both native and adopted. It is in fact a comfort food place, where everyone returns not only to have their favorite meal, but to enjoy being surrounded by familiar faces in a cool, welcoming atmosphere.

Such is the essence of Italian cuisine you find at Espresso. Home made bread baked in a brick oven, thin crust pizza, imported pasta and fresh, delicious ingredients. Add a friendly casual atmosphere, good wine and you’ll have a top gastronomic experience.
The menu is quite extensive. It offers many choices of bread, Panini, soups, salads, pasta dishes, pizza and main courses of meat, poultry and fish.
Italian cuisine ranks really high for me, way up there with Mexican cuisine. The prospect of a nice meal at Espresso was quite tempting right from the start.
Our experience at Espresso began with Focaccia, pizza bread topped with tomato, basil and olive oil. This is what fascinates me about Italian cuisine: its delicious simplicity. Next we had salmon carpaccio, fine slices of salmon in olive oil with lemon, capers and onion. It was really good, as it was refreshing.
Being the pasta lover I am, I could not resist an Emiliana Lasagna. A stupendous pasta dish, baked, bathed with a delicious tomato sauce. I swept my plate clean.
Letty enjoyed another pasta dish, fusilli al funghi porcini e salsiccia; pasta with wild mushrooms and quite aromatic Italian sausage.
To close on a high note, and following Letty’s suggestion, I had an espresso and tiramisu. In turn, she had a cassata and a cappuccino.
During the FIFA World Cup finals, Espresso will open at 8 a.m. and will serve breakfast. By doing so, the restaurant is open to the possibility to stay open in extended hours after the World Cup.
In addition to enjoying your meal at the restaurant, you can also order your meal to go, or buy homemade bread to enjoy at home. Espresso offers home delivery within a limited area, but lately its clients have increasingly used Veloz messenger services to have their order delivered at a reasonable rate.
Espresso is located on 279 Ignacio L. Vallarta, corner of Venustiano Carranza, in Colonia Emiliano Zapata, the Romantic Zone. Tel. 222 3272
