Puerto Vallarta, Craddle of Great Artists: Theater Group Awarded in State Contest
Last Week, the Municipal Theater Group was applauded by the audience at the Rosas Moreno Theater in Lagos de Moreno. The Puerto Vallarta delegation obtained six awards
 Theater is one of the most complete forms of expression, since it combines several of the arts, such as music, dance, painting, literature and even architecture, which together bring about impressive stage productions capable of eliciting different emotions from the audience, who can laugh, cry and even sing with the stories being told by the playwright.
The Puerto Vallarta Municipal Government has its own theater group which has worked under the direction of Maestro Alberto Fabian for over two decades, and has consolidated as the best theater group from the state’s interior.
At a press conference offered at the Bubba Gump restaurant the details were made known about the achievements of the theater group in their participation at the recent Theater from the Interior Festival at Lagos de Moreno, where the group has been invited every year.
 The municipal theater group has participated in this festival for nine years, and it has ranked in the top positions for the last seven years.
This time around they participated with Alberto Fabian’s play, “Breaking Moon” (Luna que se quiebra). The play received a standing ovation at its debut in the Rosas Moreno Theater and was awarded by the panel of judges as the “Best Stage Production of the State of Jalisco”. For the second consecutive year, Lincy Gomez won the Best Supporting Actress Award. Veronica Muñiz won the “Best Actress Award”, Guillermo Rafael won the award for “Best Actor”; Wally Lobato brought home the “Best Lighting Award” and for the seventh year Professor Alberto Fabian was awarded the “Best Director Award”.
 It is worth noting that this year competition was tougher than ever before. There was a screening process previous to the actual festival, and only fourteen plays made the cut. Participants gave the best of themselves to be considered one of the best in the state.
The festival awards the best play with a season in Guadalajara so a larger number of people can appreciate the work being done by state groups. Season dates are to be announced as soon as they become available.
Presiding over the press conference was Art and Culture Under director Wally Lobato, and Theater Group Director Alberto Fabian. Also in attendance at the press conference were Bubba Gump Manager Alan Arreguin and Public Relations Manager Liliana Santiago as were members of the cast.
