Twenty outstanding grade-school students from the villages of Punta de Mita were rewarded for their hard work

Within the framework of the Canada Day festivities, the Canadian Consular Agency opened a new office in Plaza Peninsula. Canadian Ambassador to Mexico Guillermo Rishchynsky visited the city on the occasion.
Puerto Vallarta Mayor Salvador Gonzalez Resendiz delivered a welcome message to all in attendance at the opening ceremonies, and said “to us it is important to celebrate with you, since Canadians are citizens who live with us all year-round and we are proud to know that they are people who not only have investments in Puerto Vallarta, but have also put their hearts in the city. This is why we doubled our efforts regarding security issues, and we can say that Puerto Vallarta is a safe city, where people can walk along the streets any time. The fact of being a metropolis brings about problems that are inherent to large cities, but we have done everything within our power to keep it one of the safest destinations in our country”.
The Canadian Ambassador said that Puerto Vallarta is an excellent place, where a large number of Canadians have found a home, and have fallen in love with the city and its people “we have learned that many have married to Mexican men or women, and have established their businesses here or have created new ones.”
Upon addressing the audience, Guillermo Rishchynski remarked on the importance of Mexico for Canada, since 200 thousand Mexicans visit Canada every year, about 20 thousand Mexicans work there and Mexico is considered the 8th country for the number of its students living in Canadian cities.
Bahia de Banderas Mayor Hector Paniagua also attended the opening ceremonies, and reminisced of the times when major investments came to Puerto Vallarta, and he said to be proud of having witnessed the great changes the municipality has undergone, and above all, seeing the destination grow along with important international companies.
All in attendance were invited to celebrate Canada Day with the ambassador and the navy ship commanders, in commemoration of the Canadian autonomy since 1867.
