Bicentennial Art Contests Award Ceremony
Late Puerto Vallarta Sculptor Ramiz Barquet Honored

On Friday, July 2, the City of Puerto Vallarta, through the Board of the Bicentennial Festivities, recognized the winners of the Bicentennial Art Contests Liber’Arte and 2010 Poster Contest.
Professor Ana Carina Cibrian, Chairwoman of the Bicentennial Festivities Board, had words of commendation for the artists, on their talent, which shows in every line, color and images full of life that were recognized by the panel of judges”. She went on to say that the entries to the contests are proof of the life of art that is lived in Puerto Vallarta.
City Council members Julio Santana, Ignacio Guzman, Ana Carina Cibrian, Gloria Palacios along with Municipal Education Department Director Yolanda Cuevas and professor Enrique Barrios y Limon, presented winners with awards.
Five of the eight winning artists in the mural category were in attendance at the award ceremony. They marked the beginning of their work with a symbolic first brushstroke on their 2 by 3 meter canvases. The mural paintings will be part of an itinerant exhibition throughout the municipality.
ON the other hand, the winners of the 2010 Poster Contest were Elsa Angelica Delgado Angulo and Sergio Giovanni Plante García, which will be the image of the festivities for the Independence Bicentennial and the Revolution Centennial. they will also make part of the exhibition to be carried out along with the other 15 entries to the contest.
