To the end of working towards planning and developing tourism in natural spaces, the current state administration, headed by governor Ney Gonzalez Sanchez, has created an inter institutional board for the development of Nature Tourism, which is made up of 14 state and federal agencies, Undersecretary Mario Alberto Basulto Mares announced.

Under the leadership of the Nayarit Tourism Secretariat, financing was negotiated to fund the Arroyo Hondo ecotourism project in the community of El Colomo, Bahia de Banderas.
The project’s first phase was built at a cost of 2.4 million pesos, out of which the Shared Risk Trust Fund disbursed 1.7 million pesos. The rest was contributed by the community. This will enable the construction of a temazcal, spa, restaurant, a watchtower, a path, and a latrine module. This phase was completed late December. It is worth noting that emphasis was put on quality, and the result is inviting facilities. The project encompasses an area of 110 hectares, constituting an Environmental Management Unit (UMA, Spanish inititals) for the Preservation of Wild Life.
“This novelty nature tourism project diversifies the supply in the region, while honoring the natural beauty of the Vallejo Mountain Range. It is an ecotourism project that is aimed at surf and turf tourists, staying in hotels along the Banderas Bay shoreline and the municipality of Compostela”,  Basulto Mares went on to say.
All the communities located on the Vallejo Mountain Range can draw motivation from the project’s success and undertake a new tourist activity to significantly improve their income while preserving and protecting natural resources,” Basulto Mares explained.
