Puerto Vallarta Maintains Beaches Pollution-Free

It was agreed to ask Semarnat to coordinate sampling with Health Secretariat to avoid misinterpretations that some voices use to damage the destination’s image

A few days from the 5th National Encounter of Clean Beaches to he hosted by the Inter State Jalisco Nayarit Committee, last Friday, July 31, the 49th Extraordinary Session of the organism took place, and which the programs, progresses and actions of the different work groups were announced.
mayor bravoThe meeting was presided over by Committee Chairman Mayor Javier Bravo Carbajal, Chairman of the Lerma-Santiago Basin Raul Armando Iglesias Benitez, as well as the Technical Secretary of the organism Guillermo Vargas Rojano.
The different participating groups presented reports on the programs as to sanitation, inspection, monitoring and research being carried out.
Doctor Carolina Romero Ocegueda from the Eight Sanitary Jurisdiction, reported that currently Puerto Vallarta beaches are within the norm, and if that due to the rain there were two spots with negative results, results from a second sample were positive, therefore we can say that “at this moment we have contamination free beaches”.
los demasMembers of the committee resolved to request from Semarnat to coordinate actions with the Health Secretariat so that the sea water samples are taken alternately in order to have greater information as to water quality and to avoid confusion or misinterpretation of results by some organizations.
Mayor Javier Bravo said this has been a recurrent situation; some voices, responding to certain interests, have focused their attacks on this destination always at the beginning of the holiday season.
As to beach certification, Doctor Saul Guerrero reported on the progress of these tasks, and said these spaces are not certified yet, but the requirements have been met for the assessing committee to determine whether to certify the Camarones beach as well as Nuevo Vallarta North and South; this way the Jalisco Nayarit representation would be certifying three beaches.
