Third Marlin and Tuna Tournament and Expo Nautical at Marina Riviera Nayarit Announced

Both events to begin August 13

At a press conference held at the convention rooms of the Marival Resort and Suites in Nuevo Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit, the organizers of the Third Marlin and Tuna Tournament, as well as the organizers of the Expo Nautical, got together to announce both events, which will take place simultaneously at the Marina Riviera Nayarit at La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, on the north shore of Banderas Bay.

They were joined by Viceadmiral Armando García Rodríguez, Commander of the Eight  Naval Zone; La Cruz de Huanacaxtle Harbor Master Fernando Barba Becerra, Marival Group Director Fernando González Ortega, who is also Chairman of the Riviera Nayarit Association of Hotels and Motels and Convention and Visitors Bureau;  Marlin and Tuna Tournament General Director Raúl Serna Navarro, Puerto Vallarta Fishing Club Secretary José Antonio Camacho Fregoso, Brunswick Chairman for Mexico and Latin America and Expo Nautical Marina Riviera Nayarit Director William J. Gress; el Brunswick México Manager Joaquín Soto and Marina Riviera Nayarit at La Cruz shareholder Pedro Fernandez del Valle.
pesca2Tournament Director Raul Serna took the floor to announce the details of the Third Marlin and Tuna Tournament, and said that the landing of record-setting specimens during the first two tournaments have made it one of the best tournaments of the Mexican Pacific Coast and very popular among anglers from Mexico United States and Canada, who are looking forward to it every year. He emphasized that the marlins captured in 2007, of 322 kilos, and 2008, of 318 kilos, have stimulated the angler’s desire to come to these waters to fish, and pointed out that out of tournament great specimens of marlin have been fished too.
The tournament gives prizes in four categories: marlin, tuna, sailfish (catch and release) and Mahi Mahi. There are cash prizes as well as boats, cars, motors, for a total of over 1 million pesos.
Emphasis was made also on the fact that Marina Riviera Nayarit’s privileged location affords participants arrival at fishing areas within minutes.
Expo Nautical Director William Gress took the floor to talk about the event and praised the qualities of the Riviera Nayarit destination, and in particular those of the Marina Riviera Nayarit where there are warm-hearted people. He called on Americans and Canadians to open their eyes and open their hearts to see the great opportunity they have to buy a boat or a yacht at prizes even lower than in United States, and yet with the support and service of a national dealer.
The Expo Nautical gathers the most important brand names of recreational marine craft, all in one place. It was announced that admission to the expo is free to all, and that there will be daily theme events.
After the press conference, Marival Resort and Suites, which is also the host hotel for both events, offered a cocktail party, where excellent canapés were served, and were enjoyed by all in attendance.
