Hotel and Motel Association’s Ladies Committee Delivers Scholarships to Employees’ Children

GemmaAt the event held in the Tulip Room of the Bougainvilleas Sheraton Hotel, the Puerto Vallarta Hotel and Motel Association’s Ladies Committee, presented scholarships to students of elementary and junior high schools, children of the member hotels’ outstanding employees.
It was a very emotional ceremony. To the young students these scholarships are, no doubt, an important stimulus that encourages them to continue studying hard.
mochilasSince early, the young students and their parents began filling the room where a line of backpacks full of classroom materials and bags with two pairs of shoes each, duly marked with the name of the scholarship recipients, awaited.
Wait was too much for young Gumaro de León, who couldn’t resist approaching and pointing to the backpack marked with his name. He is 7 years old and a second grader at Benito Juarez Elementary School. He is the son of Aurelia Perez Jiménez, an employee of the Bougainvilleas Sheraton.
Perla LizethLittle Lia Joanna wouldn’t leave her sister Jazmin Alejandra’s side, and walked alongside her as she picked up her backpack, wearing a pink backpack, a tiny version of the one presented to her sister.
Underlying the importance of the event, little Perla Lizeth accepted her scholarship wearing a cute fuchsia gown.
Nena Avelar, Ladies Committee Chairwoman, said that these scholarships serve a double purpose, recognizing the work of dedicated employees and supporting the education of those employee’s children. “These children are the future of our country” she said.
Presiding over the ceremonies was Gemma Garciarce, President of the Hotel and Motel Association, she was accompanied by Gabriel Igartúa Sanchez, President of the Tourism; Nena Avelar, Ladies Committee Chairwoman, Liney Cornejo, Ladies Committee Board Member, and Salvador de Aguinaga, Manager of the Holiday Inn.
