At the start line, Mayor Javier Bravo welcomed participants and emphasized that this event is part of the preparations toward the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, 2011, of which the destination will be an alternate seat for four categories, and for which Puerto Vallarta is ready.
Likewise he said he expects that next year this event will also be held here, and little by little becomes a sport tradition in the Port.
The competition started early at the facilities of the Maritime Terminal, in the categories of Elite, Sprint and Olympic, where both national and foreign participants gave the best of themselves in the disciplines of swimming, cycling and running, in feminine and masculine divisions, according to distances established by the Pan American games.
At the end of the competition, the mayor, along with Municipal Athletic Council Chairman Cesar David Macias Martinez, Tourism Board President Gabriel Igartua Sanchez, and Regional Tourism Director Ludwig Estrada Virgen awarded medals to the winners of the first three places.
Mexican athletes Carlos Arcadia and Leonardo Saucedo, came in first and second place, respectively, while Brazilian Wesley Matos took third position. In the women’s category, Claudia Rivas was the winner, followed by Adriana Fabiola Corona and Marcela Miramontes.
