By Miguel Camacho F. Through the end of July, Kaiser Maximilian is featuring a special Early Bird Menu, with fixed prices for appetizers, main courses and desserts, representing a great opportunity to enjoy the delicious culinary creations of Kaiser Maximilian. This Early Bird Menu is available Monday to Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. which at first struck me as surprise, since the restaurant’s regular hours are 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. The answer is, I found out, the Espresso Bar is open starting at 9:00 a.m. It is a mirror location, with both outdoor and indoor seating, where early birds can take advantage of this special menu either if they would like to have it for lunch, late lunch or early dinner. It really appears as a great alternative.
Kaiser Maximilian being one of my very favorite restaurants in town, I had to go find out what this new menu was all about. I had dinner there last week and I was pleasantly surprised by the promotion. The Early Bird Special is a menu created with a selection of the same dishes as they appear on the regular menu.
This means I was able to choose my favorite dishes from Kaiser Maximilian’s Menu. Eight choices of appetizer and nine main courses, as well as any dessert from the regular menu are included in this stupendous promotion.
I chose from the appetizers, the Raviolis with fennel, wild mushrooms and tarragon sauce. One thing I have always loved at Kaiser Maximilian is their sauces. There is something about them. They are creamy and tasty, and always leave me asking for more.
Letty had marinated beets and carrots with goat cheese, and she loved them. Salads at Maximilian are her favorite, and she particularly enjoys goat cheese salads. I had a hard time choosing a main dish. There several on the list that really caught my eye.
In the end, I had Roasted leg of veal with potato noodles and mushroom creamy sauce.
It was a real treat. The veal leg is roasted to perfection and it actually melts in your mouth; and the creamy mushroom sauce is incredible. I paired it to a superb Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon-Carmenere that enhanced the pleasure of tasting.
For desserts I had Strawberry Royal, a combination of frozen yogurt, strawberries and Chantilly cream, quite refreshing. Letty overheard the waiter saying cheese cakes were fresh off the oven and could not resist. She ordered one, and enjoyed it very much after bathing the cake with warm semi sweet chocolate syrup.
Early Bird Special prices are: appetizers $69.00, main courses $169.00 and desserts $59.00, prices are in pesos.
