Jalisco Tourism Secretary Aurelio Lopez Rocha called on the people of Puerto Vallarta to echo this campaign, because Puerto Vallarta needs its citizens, joyful, amiable and motivated to offer tourists a warm city they all want to return to.
The 2009 World Tourism Day is dedicated to the importance of religious tourism, and religious centers around the world were sought for the celebration. The 30th anniversary of the World Tourism Day is being celebrated in Ghana, under the motto “Tourism, Consecration of Diversity”. It is intended to add a global perspective to balance the influence of tourism and sustainability and to bring the human face of the sector under the limelight: its ability to reinforce understanding, fomenting social inclusion and promoting the improvement of wellbeing. The message of the World Tourism Organization underscores the fact that tourism is an international sector and as such, it has the responsibility to reach out to the whole world with its positive contributions. Ghana is one of the founding members of the organization and a key factor of the WTO’s Sustainable Tourism program. The World Tourism Day is celebrated every year on September 27. Its aim is to foment awareness among the international community about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economical value. The event intends to face the world challenges as outlined in the Development Objectives of the Millennium and to influence the tourist sector to reach those objectives.
