Group RCI Presented Vacation Property Book

presentacionOn September 23, Group RCI presented the 2009 edition of its annual Latin America and the Caribbean Vacation Property book. The presentation event took place in the convention rooms of the Marival Resort & Suites in Nuevo Vallarta.

The book was presented by RCI President Ricardo Montaubon and Vice president Ana Laura Acevedo. They were joined by representatives from the public and private sector in the region, among them Puerto Vallarta Municipal Tourism Director Enrique Tovar, Regional Municipal Director Ludwig Estrada, President of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board Gabriel Igartua, and the General Manager of the Marival Resort Fernando Gonzalez, who is also the President of the Bahia de Banderas Convention and Visitors Bureau. Also in attendance were Salvador Ruelas, from the Bahia de Banderas Municipal Tourism Department and Adeprotur President Luis Angel Cantu.

In this book, Group RCI analyzes the situation of the industry in America Latina as to last year. The information, figures and statistics offered in the book present a view of the sector’s current situation and its performance during this period.

The study underscores the importance of Mexico within the global tourist industry and in particular within the timeshare and vacation ownership segment, ranking as the second most important country in the world within the segment.

Casamagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, Named Leading Family Resort for Mexico & Central America

DennisThe CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa has been awarded twice, as a Mexico Leading Family Resort & Central America Leading Family Resort, for the World Travel Awards (WTA) last September 21.

The ceremony for the North & Central America chapter was held at Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo.

The awards are regarded as the very highest achievement that a travel product could ever hope to receive, described by the Wall Street Journal as the ‘Oscars’ of the global travel industry, unveiled the ‘best of the best’ in the region.

More than 500 travel organizations were nominated in the ceremony. Thousands of votes are cast by travel professionals from 183,000 travel agencies, tour and transport companies and tourism organizations in over 160 countries across the globe.

Graham Cooke, President, World Travel Awards commented: “The past 12 months have brought several challenges, namely the economic downturn and the outbreak of swine flu, which has impacted travel and tourism worldwide; today’s winners have remained focused on their long term objectives, and continued to deliver above and beyond the call of duty, setting an industry benchmark.”

Throughout the evening, winners were presented with their prestigious trophies by key industry figures, with live entertainment which included performances from The Village People, as well as KC and the Sunshine Band.

Each winner has automatically been put forward for the spectacular WTA Grand Final which will take place at the five-star Grosvenor House, a JW Marriott Hotel in London on November 8th immediately before World Travel Market.
