Galeria Corsica presents recent works of Nayarit-born, painter Raymundo Andrade. Raymundo is well known in Puerto Vallarta not only because of the quality of his paintings, but also for having lived here many years.
A self-taught painter, doctor in medicine and doctor in History, Raymundo Andrade combines his unique academic background with his art. His canvases are veiled in a delicate sense of nostalgia, and warm muted tones seem to further suspend his images is timeless reverie. His works clearly pay tribute to both the native and Spanish cultures that are such a part of Mexico’s vast cultural history. Spiritual, cultural, and natural richness and fertility are themes that pervade the themes of this artist.
boy in space suitRaymundo uses a quite elaborate oil technique and prefers large formats. His paintings revolve around themes that are a constant concern to the artist: time, memories… the result are a series of paintings full of nostalgia, where light receives a treatment that is reminiscent of the religious art painters from the nineteenth century.
Raymundo’s work is harmonic in its composition, and sober as to his choice of palette. His sense of proportion is remarkable. The subjects he paints are mainly human figures, animals and still natures.
His works have been exhibited extensively museums and galleries in Mexico, California, Arizona, and Illinois, USA.
Raymundo, on the basis of constant work has found his own language and appears as a mature artist in complete command of his art, and his portraits are a collection of characters drawn from the timeless imaginary, and placed in a place where future and past meet.
The works of Raymundo Andrade can be viewed during regular gallery hours 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 10 p.m., as well as during the Art Walk, which takes place every Wednesday from 6 to 10 p.m.
