We turned out at a press conference at La Leche restaurant, which turned out to be a live Internet TV broadcast to announce a new TV series to be produced by the Jalisco Radio & Television System (SJRTV), featuring local restaurateur Nacho Cadena. The new series will be titled “The Flavor of Life” and will consist of 13 30-minute episodes. It is expected that the series will air next August or September.
The press conference-live broadcast was presided over by Nacho Cadena himself, and SJRTV Director Samuel Gomez Muñoz. They elaborated on the details of the new undertaking, which will put Puerto Vallarta under the limelight. The series emerges as a local project which could reach international heights, thanks to the agreements SJRTV has entered into with such state and public television systems as BBC, DW and PBS.
nacho y samuelSamuel Gomez underlined Nacho Cadena’s experience as journalist and TV conductor in this type of program, acquired during his appearances on the Gourmet Channel, where his son Alfonso continues to appear.
This series, Nacho Cadena explained, will speak of Puerto Vallarta, its ocean, its jungle and its people, but most importantly it will speak of the value of life. It will convey the message that life is good, it is worth living and can be enjoyed even with limited resources. It will also have a local focus; it will promote the philosophy of consuming local products, organic products, and will highlight people who work in Puerto Vallarta and its surroundings: the fishermen, the farmers. All of this will have cooking as the connecting thread, and will promote wine culture at the same time. “Wine does not increase alcoholism” Nacho Cadena stated, “it is rather conducive to good friendship, good conversation; it invites to saying ‘cheers’ looking into each other’s eyes”.
A series promo will be presented at the National Assembly of the State Radio and Television Networks in Veracruz, along with a project to produce another 26-episode series on a national level where Nacho will board themes such as Independence and Revolution epoch cuisine.
In attendance at the press conference was Puerto Vallarta Cultural Radio Stations Coordinator Arcelia Madera, as well as producer Gustavo Fernandez and Esmeralda Vega.
After the press conference, all in attendance enjoyed an excellent three-course menu prepared by Chef Alfonso Cadena.
