La Post 444, across from the boardwalk downtown Puerto Vallarta, only steps away from the main plaza and the City Hall, occupies the building that once housed the post office, making easy to guess the origin of its name.

The restaurant is very spacious; it takes two stories and offers a variety of atmospheres to enjoy a splendid dining experience arising from the very roots of that Mediterranean country. The top floor affords a view of the Malecon, the ocean and the bay’s north shore.
Our readers are familiar with the fact that Italian cuisine is one of my favorites, along with Mexican cuisine. I still marvel at the discovery of new flavors from its dishes.
Executive Chef Salvatore Domanti was born in Sicilia, in the south of Italy, and has been a resident of Puerto Vallarta for 16 years. He has worked in hotel chains and independent restaurants in Puerto lapostacomidaingVallarta and Riviera Nayarit.
He was involved in the design of the restaurant, working together with the group of architects in charge of the restoration.
Upon designing the restaurant’s menu, Chef Domanti included dishes from the various regions of Italy, aiming at offering his clientele a broader view of what Italian cuisine is all about.
The result is an extensive menu including pasta, salads, and pizza, Panini, risotto, as well as beef, chicken, fish and shrimp dishes.
Letty chose the baked Parmesan flan over grilled asparagus, with Modena balsamic reduction, which she loved, she’s always been a lover of rich-flavored cheeses.
I, in turn, had fritto misto di gamberoni, zucchini and calamari with fried mint perfume, Creole sauce and basil dressing, delicious from start to finish. Presentation of both dishes was remarkable, and made them even more enticing.
At main courses, Letty had the mozzarella ravioli with garlic and cherry tomato, in creamy cherry tomato sauce with basil and Parmesan cheese. What a treat! I couldn’t resist lasagna. Baked in lapostaprincipalingwood oven and made with fresh pasta, beef ragout and fresh cow milk béchamel, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, it’s hands-down delicious; and when paired to an Argentinean Malbec, it has no peer.
Caprese pizza is another Italian wonder. Simple and aromatic, it is a healthy, delicious option, with fresh mozzarella, fresh tomato, pesto and extra virgin olive oil.
Italians created espresso and cappuccino. There’s no better way to complete this experience than having a cup of intense-flavored coffee to accompany a freshly baked dessert.
La Posta is open for lunch and dinner from noon to 1:30 a.m.
